Finding Media Materials
The video and DVD collections contain information that supplements classroom instruction, provides information for papers and speeches, and provides cultural enrichment. All of the library's media holdings are listed in Catapult, the library's online catalog. You may search for media items just as you would a book; just set the "limit to" dropdown to "video". Searching by keyword is strongly recommended.
Please also see our guide to online media resources.
Media Resources: Loan Policy
The media collection is open to use by anyone with WVC library borrowing privileges, including faculty, staff, and students. WVC faculty may check out materials for a full term, however, these items will be subject to the same recall policies as print materials. WVC staff may check out materials for 7 days. WVC students may check out materials for 3 days. Omak faculty, staff and students may request media materials through the Omak library (509-682-7830). Community members may use media materials within the facility. Area teachers may borrow materials by special arrangement.
Media Resources: Requesting New Materials
Faculty from any department may request the purchase of materials by contacting the Library Director, Omak Library Staff or the Media Department.
Students and staff are encouraged to suggest new media titles by using the contacts listed above.
Once you have received confirmation of a library media order, please allow a minimum of two weeks for materials to arrive. Some titles from educational film distributors (e.g. Films for the Humanities and Sciences, Bullfrog Films) may take longer to arrive because they make each copy on demand.
Media Resources: Reserves
If faculty would like to ensure that materials will be readily available for in-library use by students, they may place them on reserve by contacting the Media staff (509-682-6712), the Wenatchee library's Circulation staff (509-682-6710) or the Omak Library (509-682-7830). For more information on library reserves, see the reserves policy.
Media Resources: Viewing Media in the Library
The library provides six DVD/VCR-equipped viewing rooms on the main floor and four viewing rooms on the 2nd level. DVDs may also be played in any of the computers in the library's computer labs. Headphones, if needed, may be borrowed from the library's audio/visual desk. Closed captioning is available on all DVD/VCR units.
Media Resources: Media Services/Equipment
Media equipment is available for students to use in the library or faculty and staff check-out. Equipment includes a VHS camcorder, DVD camcorder, CD/cassette players, headphones, PAL DVD player, and VHS players.
