Nancy has taught English at WVC for 34 years. Helping people learn and grow is her passion.

She holds a B.A.Ed. in English and an M.A.Ed. in English both from Central Washington University. (In the distant past, she held a Washington State K-12 teaching certificate.) She has post-graduate work in reading for adult learners from Central Washington University and holds a 24-credit Certificate in Online Instruction from UCLA.

She is a voracious reader, an avid fly fisher, and wields both a compound sliding chop saw and a sewing machine with aplomb.

Nancy is a classroom teacher. Her primary areas of instruction are in the transfer composition sequence. She offers Composition: General (Engl& 101) and Composition: Advanced Essay (Engl 201). From time to time, she gets to indulge herself with a section of Fantasy Fiction (Engl 215). She is offering her 200-level, post Composition 101 Technical Writing course (Engl& 235) to support the engineering and technical DTAs Winter 2012. WVC has not offered such a course since the 1980's.

Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 she is offering her Engl 201 Advanced Essay course through WVC online and face-to-face.

During Fall 2011, the Fantasy Fiction course focuses on Sword and Scorcery and Magical Realism.  This is the last of this version until reasonable replacements for the texts come available.  Fall 2012 and 2013 the Fantasy Fiction class with be speculative fiction--an intense look at ourselves through imagining the future.

Nancy also directs the WriteLab, the technology and writing support system for the composition program and all student academic writing at WVC, and supervises the WriteLab tutoring staff.  Try a WriteLab tutor--It's fun--It's free.
