Interlibrary Loan FAQs

 

How do I order an item?
By phone, email, fax, in person, or interlibrary loan request online form

How long does it take?
5 to 10 days for print items such as books. Article requests typically arrive within 3 days but can vary depending on the availability of the journal.

Who is responsible for the costs for duplication, postage, handling, and shipping?
The library covers these costs

What are the penalties for lost or late items?
Lost items are subject to the replacement cost mandated by the original lending library. Penalties for late items are the same as WVC Library books.

How am I notified that the material is available to me?
You will receive an email from our library staff notifying you that your items have arrived. Articles will be emailed directly to you.

How long can I keep the material?
Interlibrary Loan material is checked out from the WVC Library for 2 weeks

Can the loan period be extended?
Renewals are at the discretion of the original lending library.

How am I going to receive the material? Will the material be sent to my home or will I have to come in to pick it up?
Students typically need to come in to the library to pick up material. However, exceptions can be made for students requiring alternative accommodations.

What else should I know?
